Welcome to our Community
"It takes a village to raise a child" is a timeless proverb emphasising that a child's development requires the collective support, interaction, and influence of an entire community rather than just their immediate parents. A school community encompasses the relationships, collaborations, and shared culture built between students, teachers, parents, and the wider local area.

The life of a secondary school is a busy one with a huge array of activities and staff play a full part as tutor, taking teams or running clubs and trips. It means they know their students well. The quality of the teachers and the strong working relationship between staff and students is what makes Penryn College a great place to learn and grow.
Every member of the school support team is dedicated, committed and highly professional. From the admin staff to the site team, cleaners and librarians, each individual member of staff is part of the Penryn family and committed to delivering a warm, welcoming level of service to all our families.

Wall of Fame
In 2014, the Wall of Fame was introduced by one of our Student Council members to celebrate contributions and achievements from students, staff and members of the community who have shown great effort, skill, or courage.
Members of the Student Council organise regular nominations and voting to update the Wall of Fame each year. Anyone can nominate, and anyone can be nominated: pupils, staff, teams at Penryn College, members of the local community, and even people in the public eye can receive an honorary award
Nominees featured on the 2022 Wall of Fame:
- Mr Bick (Staff) – Serving the Community – For volunteering for the Penlee Lifeboat Station and giving up his time to ensure that people who get into difficulty in the sea are brought back to safety. Additionally, Mr Bick continues to support students and his colleagues within the ARB to ensure they have a fantastic experience every day.
- Mrs Snowdon (Staff) – Serving the Community – For her relentless commitment to the young people at Penryn College – ensuring they have access to information and opportunities for the wider world of work. Moreover, the information and opportunities are personalised for the individual, to give them the best possible chance of achieving their goals.
- Stephanie Cocks (NHS Nurse) – Serving the Community – Since leaving Penryn College, Stephanie has dedicated her life to helping others. This nomination recognises her work as a frontline NHS nurse during the pandemic.
- School Governors – Serving the Community – Our governors continue to give up numerous hours of their time to support the school community in so many different ways. Most of this work is done quietly behind the scenes and without recognition from the school community. Their dedication ensures that students get the best possible education we can provide.
- George (Student) – Achieving through Challenge – George has worked extremely hard and showed high levels of commitment and dedication to gain his black belt in taekwondo.
- Erin Bastian (Former Student) – Achieving through Challenge – Since leaving Penryn College, Erin has upheld the school motto in everything she has done – the pinnacle being winning the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Rowing Challenge female class trophy.
- Daisy (Student) – Achieving through Challenge/Giving to Others – Daisy walked 310,000 steps in October 2021, raising an incredible £870 for Sands – a stillbirth and neonatal charity.
- Mike and Debbie Rigby – Serving the Community – For their commitment to ensuring that young people from the Isles of Scilly and Penryn College experience the mountain environment in the UK and abroad – embracing the school motto of Achieving through Challenge.
